Peer Support

Peer Support

We have listened to Autistic people and our other stakeholders, and we’ve been told that you’d like to see a peer support service. This includes the ability to be paired up with a trusted person who is Autistic and has experience within certain fields that you’re looking for support with, whether that be a carer, education, parenting or just someone to talk to who understands you through having lived experience of a similar condition.

We know that every Autistic person is different and so we will buddy people up according to what you say you require once we get in touch.

Anyone who wants to offer peer support to others will have to have some experience in doing this (whether with a brother or a friend, or more formally) and will be offered training. Peer supporters will also have to have a Disclosure and Barring Service clearance prior becoming a peer supporter.

If you’d like to receive, or offer, peer support, all you need do is indicate this once you sign up for myDigiDAS. We will then get in contact with you as soon as we can support you.
